industry today! GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Trims, grinds, drills and
sands composite parts to precise dimensions. Mixes and applies
appropriate adhesives to bond parts. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The
duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of
Composite Assemblers. Each level of Assembler has additional duties
and responsibilities listed. /n - Performs a variety of tasks,
which require knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools
and equipment. /n - Follows FOD (foreign object prevention)
practices. /n - Interprets and follows manufacturing orders. /n -
Operates shop related machinery including, but not limited to,
ovens, pneumatic tools, common hand tools and scales. /n - Handles,
applies, stores and disposes of composite materials, adhesives,
sealants, resins and solvents. /n - Supports and exhibits the focus
of zero defects as well as "right-the-first-time" approach. /n -
Inspects finished products for conformance to specifications. /n -
May work from verbal instructions. /n - Complies with established
safety directives. /n - Maintains a clean work area and ensures
strict adherence to the 5S Standards. /n - Complies with
established QMS procedures. /n - Other duties may be assigned. /n
/n Composite Assembler I: /n - Works under close supervision. /n -
May work from engineering drawings. /n - Prepares, abrades and
bonds composite and metal-to-composite assemblies. /n - Rivets both
solid and blind rivets. /n - May install electronic components. /n
- Performs hand layout of features for trimming and drilling in
parts or assemblies. /n - Meets or exceeds productivity and quality
standards. /n /n Composite Assembler II: /n - Works under limited
supervision. /n - May work from engineering drawings, rough
sketches, manuals and/or appropriate engineering direction. /n -
Prepares, abrades and bonds composite and metal-to-composite
assemblies. /n - Rivets both solid and blind rivets. /n - May
install electronic components. /n - Performs hand layout of
features for trimming and drilling in parts or assemblies. /n -
Capable of performing wet layups. /n - Meets or exceeds
productivity and quality standards. /n - Trains and mentors new
employees in proper trimming, abrading and bonding techniques, with
supervisory approval. /n /n Composite Assembler III: /n - Works
under minimal supervision. /n - Meets or exceeds productivity and
quality standards. /n - Ability to work at any work center in the
department. /n - Trains and mentors new employees in proper
trimming, abrading and bonding techniques. /n - May fabricate
prototype parts from sketches. /n /n SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None. LI-Onsite KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Required: Each
successive level of Composite Assembler builds on the identified
knowledge, skills and abilities listed for the previous level(s)
Composite Assemblers. /n - Ability to maintain sensitive and
confidential information as required by government standards. /n -
Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors. /n -
Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
/n - Ability to adhere to workplace rules. /n /n Composite
Assembler I /n - Must be able to demonstrate accurate basic math
skills. /n - Must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail
resulting in the production of high-quality parts. /n - Must be
able to demonstrate ability to use hand tools. /n - Must be able to
demonstrate the accurate use of a tape measure. /n - Precise
measuring experience is a plus. /n - Typical qualifications for
this level include: /n - Basic Math Skills. /n - Documentation -
skills in reading and writing various forms of documentation. /n -
Basic Computer Skills. /n - Ability to differentiate between
various types of composite materials. /n - Ability to operate
equipment used within department. /n - Ability to read and follow
processes and procedures. /n - Ability to use powered and
non-powered tools to perform cutting, grinding, drilling of
composite materials. /n - Ability to understand and follow Kratos'
Quality System. /n - Adherence to all Safety procedures. /n /n /n
/n Composite Assembler II /n - Must be able to perform basic
lamination repairs. /n - Must be able to use precision measuring
devices. /n - Typical qualifications for this level include an
intermediate level of: /n - Math Skills. /n - Documentation- skills
in reading and writing various forms of documentation. /n -
Computer Skills. /n - Materials Knowledge. /n - Ability to operate
equipment used within department. /n - Ability to read, interpret,
and follow processes and procedures. /n - Ability to use powered
and non-powered tools to perform cutting, grinding, drilling of
composite materials. /n - Ability to understand and follow Kratos'
Quality System. /n - Adherence to all Safety procedures. /n -
Consistently perform to established production standards. /n /n /n
/n Composite Assembler III /n - Must be able to use precision
measuring devices. /n - Interpret and work from Industry Specs. /n
- Handle a great deal of repair work. /n - Train and mentor other
Assemblers. /n - Be proactive to look for process improvement
ideas. /n - Typical qualifications for this level include an
advanced level of: /n - Math Skills. /n - Documentation- skills in
reading and writing various forms of documentation. /n - Computer
Skills. /n - Materials Knowledge. /n - Ability to operate equipment
used within department. /n - Ability to read, interpret, and follow
processes and procedures. /n - Ability to use powered and
non-powered tools to perform cutting, grinding, drilling of
composite materials. /n - Ability to understand and follow Kratos'
Quality System. /n - Adherence to all Safety procedures. /n -
Normally exceeds standard production hours. /n /n /n /n Preferred:
N/A EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Composite Assembler I /n -
Requires high school education or equivalent. /n - Hands-on
experience in manufacturing production. /n /n Composite Assembler
II /n - Requires high school education or equivalent. /n - 2-3
years hands-on experience in composite manufacturing. /n /n
Composite Assembler III /n - Requires high school education or
equivalent. /n - 5 years hands-on experience in composite
manufacturing. /n - Experience with Vacuum Bagging, and various
forms of Lamination repair. /n /n Preferred: Composite Assembler
I-III /n - Composites background is a plus. /n - Experience with
aircraft fuselage a definite plus. /n /n WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: /n - Office and manufacturing environment. /n -
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. /n - Ability to
perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones). /n -
Employee may generate, handle, manage, or work around hazardous
materials and hazardous wastes. /n - May be required to lift up to
50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training
guidelines. /n /n TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: None.
