Assistant Professor in Digital Storytelling Creation and Distribution University ofOklahomaTenure-Track AssistantProfessor in Digital Storytelling Creation and Distribution andMedia Writing/Creative Media ProductionThe Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at theUniversity of Oklahoma seeks outstanding candidates for atenure-track assistant professor position in Digital StorytellingCreation and Distribution and Media Writing, beginning Fall 2019,to join an award-winning program in Creative Media Production.The strategic plan for Creative Media Production stresses acombination of skill sets tied to both legacy mediaforms-narrative, documentary, corporate-and more cutting-edge mediaapplications, such as mobile, interactive, and online storytelling.So the successful candidate will provide teaching that integratesstorytelling into the current media environment, and developcurriculum in social media distribution and management. Thecandidate's research or creative work may include, but would not belimited to, innovative media content with a specific eye on digitalstorytelling platforms.The position will help prepare students in both skills andconceptual learning. The Gaylord College ranks No. 1 in the nationin creative media production awards over the last five years inBroadcast Education Association competitions. Our vision and ourcurriculum in the college are grounded in the effort to nurturestorytellers.The candidate would also have opportunities to teach at thegraduate level and mentor students through master's theses orprojects and Ph.D. dissertations, if qualified. Successfulcandidates with a substantial developing record of scholarship orcreative activity are typically assigned to teach two courses persemester.Qualifications A master's degree and professional experience in digital mediaproduction are required. A PhD or MFA, and teaching experience arepreferred. All applicants are expected to establish and achieve aprogram of high-quality research or creative/professionalactivities.Candidates of ethnically diverse backgrounds, including, but notlimited to, African-Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos, and NativeAmericans, are particularly urged to apply.
