UPG- Maintenance Mechanic III
UPG- Maintenance Supervisor
Perform installation, repair to lighting, power circuits,
electrical controls of machines and to component parts of machine
tools and plant equipment. Perform complete facilities construction
and repair projects. Highly diversified work involving complex use
of machinists, electricians, plumbers hand and power tools and
equipment. Judgment required diagnosing, plan, and layout, install,
build, test and repair complex types of electrical, mechanical,
electronic, hydraulic equipment.
In addition to the duties and/or responsibilities of lower
classified Maintenance Mechanics, Maintenance Mechanics III
performs the following:
Plan working procedure, layout job, bend, thread and install
conduit, make required mounting brackets, mount switch, controls,
and electrical parts make complete installation of lighting and
power circuits and electrical controls of machine tools and plant
equipment. Test controls after installation and repair any
malfunctions. Make connections to live circuits when required.
Diagnose trouble and perform repairs on equipment such as drive
motors, instruments, control panels, and heating, cooling,
ventilating, cleaning, humidification equipment.
Perform operations required to dismantle machines or equipment for
repair of parts or components. Set up and operate a full complement
of machine tools and attachments to make, repair, or alter parts
working from sketches, drawings or from sample parts. Fit, align,
reassemble, checkout and adjust repaired apparatus.
Perform a variety of the more complicated electrical, welding, and
plumbing, sheet metal, and refrigeration requiring a thorough
understanding of principles in order to fabricate, build, finish,
repair, service and maintain facilities, grounds and equipment from
drawings, sketches and other similar information. Use a variety of
electrical, heating cooling and ventilating test equipment,
pinpoint and remedy trouble. Must have a thorough understanding of
electrical circuitry, gas and fluid flow, heat transfer, and
refrigeration principles in order to install, service and repair
control and operational systems. Must follow all lock out-tag out
procedures as needed. Inspect and maintain records on plant lifting
equipment, chains, cables, slings, clamps, etc Inspect service,
lubricate, and repair cranes, material handling, and transportation

High school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with and ability to
use electrical equations. Proficiency in any two of the following
maintenance fields plus shall have a general knowledge of at least
one other of the following specified areas: Mechanical, Electrical,
Pneumatics/Hydraulics, Electronics, Facilities Maintenance,
Welding, Plumbing, and/or Sheet Metal. Proficiency within the labor
grade bracket shall be understood to mean that the applicant is
able to work effectively on trouble shooting problems in two of the
specified fields; shall be completely conversant with the normal
complement of tools and items of test equipment used in those
fields. Proper use of PPE and must use caution and follow
prescribed safety procedures around electrical and mechanical
equipment to avoid shock and possible serious injury to hands and
fingers. Safety goggles recommended to prevent eye injury from
possible splash or sulfuric acid.

Pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of heavy and/or bulky parts.
Weight amounts may vary from five to 50 pounds, any amount over 50
pounds requires physical or mechanical help. Arm strength and
coordination. Repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, elbows
and shoulders. Simple grasping, power grip, power pinch required.
Rotating of upper body to lift and position parts and equipment.
Ability to reach and work overhead and above chest level. Bending
at waist 45 to 90 degrees. Stooping, squatting, kneeling, and
climbing. Ability to operate and handle power and vibrating tools.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders. All physical demands will be
frequently and/ continuously. Frequently defined as 34% to 66% of
the work day/time. Continuously defined as 67% to 100% of the work
day/time. ABOVE MAY VARY DEPENDING ON DAILY JOB ASSIGNMENTS.
