Charge Nurse II PremiumJob Locations US-OK-NormanID 2020-6054 Category Nursing-RN Position Type Regular Full Time Department HealthPlex - CVICU Overview In our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, we maintain a fast-paced unit to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common problems seen in our unit include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure/cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. Our unit also provides immediate specialized care to other severe and critically ill patients, including respiratory and cardiac failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and continuous renal replacement therapy. Our Nurses demonstrate highly advanced skills in patient assessment/ intervention, teamwork, and crisis management. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing an 8-12 week orientation with a dedicated preceptor team complemented by a program of critical care courses and a nurse residency program for new graduates. Apply today to join our compassionate team of healers and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.Responsibilities RN essential functions include, but are not limited to: collaboration with other health professionals, assessment, analyzing assessment data, establishing goals, planning care strategy, establishing priorities of care, implementing care, delegating tasks safely, providing safe direct and indirect nursing care, evaluating responses to interventions, and performing additional nursing functions in accordance with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation. Charge Nurse is responsible for responding to MITs, code blues and high NEWS scores in the hospital. They make assignments for the department and are invested in the hospital. Qualifications Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN license. Diploma or Associate's degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training is required within 6 months of hire. ACLS is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment. Previous experience in acute care field preferred. 1 year critical care experience as a Registered Nurse required.
