The Software Developer will develop new applications and modify existing ones in support of our client, the United States Postal Service. In addition to developing and modifying software, the role also requires supporting existing enterprise Oracle databases used for data storage. The software developer will be supporting the HQ Maintenance, Maintenance Technical Support Center (MTSC) organization which is focused on user support for a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) that supports various equipment maintenance actions for the United States Postal Service. Support may be provided from one of two customer locations: Merrifield, VA or Norman, OK. The candidate must be able to perform the following essential and secondary functions: Primary/Essential Software Development Functions: Consults with customers to elicit, refine, and document requirements. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. Designs/develops/creates applications (Full Life Cycle Software Development), developing code using Java, PHP, Python, or C# that relies on Enterprise Oracle 12c (or higher) databases for data storage. Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging, and installing to support enterprise application systems. Prepares written documentation as required to support each release. Prepares written documentation as required to support training updates. Secondary Support Functions: Provides System Administration and Database Administration by applying Database and OS updates and maintaining database and operation systems. Provides ad hoc programming and support on reports module updates and corrections. Provides CMMS software support to the field sites and to provide tier III support to the CMMS Help Desk. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Computer Science. At least 5 years of specialized, full lifecycle software development experience in Java, PHP, Python, or C#. Ability to work as part of a team or independently to achieve Organizational goals. Provide effective support with experience in the following agile software development and support environment: Microsoft Document Object Module (DOM) AJAX Framework Agile/Scrum Process Experience with Oracle RDBMS 12c or higher. Experience PL/SQL programming/scripting. Additional Requirements: Candidate must be able to sit, stand and work at a computer for prolonged periods. Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
