Machine Operator III
Norman, OK
8+ Months

1st shift - 7am-3pm, 20 minute paid lunch
2nd shift - 3pm-11pm, 20 minute paid lunch

3rd shift - 11pm-7am, 20 minute paid lunch

Operate press machine to fabricate specified sheet metal parts within very close tolerances. Inspect parts, operate material transfer system and report discrepancies.

In addition to the duties and/or responsibilities of Machine Operator III, perform the following:
1. Work Safe!
2. Basic computer operating skills.
3. Obtain blue print from MES.
4. Verify its information.
5. Work from blue prints.
6. Check every twentieth part for correctness to check part and or print.
7. Enter yield into MES and production log at their machine, 5S area.
8. Auto Shear:
Set dials on control console for automatic shears, such as number of increments, increment feed and clamp position.
9. Twelve Foot Shear:
Perform calculations to determine the blade position. Set back gauge position and material feed clamps on manual shear. Make necessary adjustments. Feed part into machine. Run two machines simultaneously as required. Inspect parts to drawings or set-up person s first specification piece, every 20 pieces. Record production in MES and on the production log including machine downtime. Maintain machine, equipment and an orderly work area, 5S area.

To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to read and interpret blueprints wit 3-dimensional drawings, where some dimensions have to be calculated. Use of decimals, fractions, measuring tape, additions, subtraction, multiplication and division.
3. Knowledge of tape control and binary coding system.
4. Familiarity with and understanding of sheet metal stretches related to material thickness and angular dimensions.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Very repetitive work. On feet 80 percent of time. Continuous pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of heavy and/or bulky sheet metal parts required. Weight amounts may vary from 5 pounds to 50 pounds, any amount over 50 pounds requires physical or mechanical help. Rotating of upper body to lift, move and positions parts to and from machine. Repetitive motion of hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders. Ability to reach overhead, above shoulder and/or chest level to place parts and dies in machine. Continuous visual demand to position parts in machine safely and efficiently. Mental/visual attention required to perform set-up. Must be able to recognize machine difficulties quickly and take action to stop machine.
