OU Heath Physicians is Oklahoma's largest physician group and
encompasses almost every adult and child specialty.
This position is located at the Stephenson Cancer Center in the
POSITION INFORMATION: Under direct supervision of a
pharmacist(s) in a clinical infusion setting, reviews/approves
petitions for medication authorization; communicates with health
care providers regarding authorization policies and procedures and
gathers data and prepares reports. May provide assistance by
obtaining pharmaceuticals through Patient Assistance Programs (PAP)
and Medication Assistance Programs (MAP) sponsored by
- Compound Preparation. Prepares compounds and dispenses
medications, intravenous medications, and chemotherapy according to
- Medication Authorization. Reviews/approves petitions for
medication authorization; reviews clinical guidelines for
medication criteria for prior authorization.
- DUR. Reviews and evaluates retrospective and prospective DUR
criteria; assists with DUR-related activities (mailings, retro-DUR
review, Board member correspondence, etc.); assists with monthly
DUR/Prior Authorization reports.
- Correspondence. Researches, reviews, and replies to a wide
range of correspondence and written inquiries regarding Medicaid
rules and procedures relative to all medical programs.
- Patient Assistance Programs. Obtain pharmaceuticals via Patient
Assistance and Medication Assistance Programs sponsored by
pharmaceutical companies; keeps abreast with manufacturers Patient
and Medication Assistance Programs; distributes all indigent
pharmaceutical inventories to appropriate volunteer Pharmacies;
interviews referred patients to obtain qualification status.
- Claims Processing. Processes all claims; maintains
organized/accurate database; gathers and preloads patient,
financial and physician data into database; organizes filing of
initial and yearly renewal applications; tracks patient
- Special Projects. Contributes to the operations of special
projects; may assist in documenting cost savings and assist with
funding from local hospitals.
- Supplies Ordering. Responsible for ordering all clinical
supplies for pharmacy and infusion area and clinic; reconciles
- As Needed. Performs related duties as assigned or as required
to successfully fulfill function of the position.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 48 months pharmacy technician-related experience
Certifications/Licenses: Pharmacy Technician permit issued by
the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy for positions functioning
within a pharmacy. Must obtain the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy
permit within 45 days from hire date.
Preferred: IDS (Investigational Drug Experience)
OU Health Hospitals and OU Health Physicians are merging into
one clinical enterprise. This position will transition employment,
along with existing staff, to OU Health Physicians as of July 1,
